Thrown Team 09/10: 1 year, 6 months ago · ViewWoop Woop Thrown. Another enjoyable weekend I have to say! Was a bit disappointed that the first team were not able to make nationals but we improved so much over the weekend, it just makes the possible of nationals qualification next week all the more possible

As for the second team, you did amazing! I don’t think we have ever had a team that was so good which shows the depth of our squad.
I’m looking forward to reading both game reports soon.PRACTICE
Wednesday 2pm Hyde Park. We have all been kindly reminded that there is a tube strike that day but usually there will be a way to make it so come down if you can.ROLLER DISCO THURSDAY
Not being able to roller skate is not an excuse not to come! You can just hold on to the sides like I plan to do. We will all being going to Sophie and Camilla’s abode before because they live quite close (could one of you post what time you would like us to come)MIXED INDOOR REGIONALS IN READING
This weekend (6th/7th). Message me asap if you want in (louis.hall@kcl.ac.uk). We will be taking 2 teams down. I am especially looking to get as many players of the female gender to play. For all the points, there has to be a equal mix of men and women on the field. I feel that what will set us apart from the other teams is the quality of women we have to play so don’t be afraid to put your name down. This is our best opportunity to qualify for nationals and every player will be important in achieving that target!OTHER

Sorry this is a rushed email but i’m going out
Thrown 1
We have to change once during our journey so we are get to Burger King at 8am again for the 8.19 to Streatham Common. We can get to Carshalton within plenty of timeThrown 2
Your first game is at Sutton Arena Leisure centre, middleton road, carshalton, sm5 1sl
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&biw=1276&bih=823&q=SM5+1SL&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Carshalton+SM5+1SL&gl=uk&ei=yHnMTP3bNs754Aaa__nbDA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CBUQ8gEwAAThe closest station looks to be Sutton Common rail station. Your game isn’t until 11.13 but i think its a bit of walk from the station so i suggest the 9.37 train from London Bridge (with no changes)
One of the captains should print off the map so you have an idea of where to go from the stationThats it!

Regionals is tomorrow and I am really excited. Looking at our pool it’s not going to be easy but we have a great chance to make it all the way to nationals. Looking down at the team list these are two incredibly strong squads. For many of you this may be your last chance to make nationals and for some this is your first proper competitive tournament so lets do the team proud. Some important house keeping
SIGNED UP
Everybody needs to have paid team subs (see link below) to be covered by our insurance AND must have paid the basic membership as well as rostered with Thrown (KCL) on http://www.ukltimate.com If tomorrow morning when we check you aren’t rostered you cannot play. The UKultimate site is playing up at the moment so keep checking and if it isn’t working we will have to sort something out last minute.

Thrown Team 09/10: 1 year, 6 months ago · ViewSorry to send another email (Dan got in before me!) but thought I’d email you guys the email i just got sent from our favourite regionals organiser…
Hello London team contacts.
I come to you again (or possibly the first time, Tom!) with my begging bowl…regarding accommodation.
We really could do with some help accommodating teams for this weekend. I think we’ve so far got 3 Mohawks, 1 Reading, 1 Chichester and 2 Sublime teams that could really do with getting some floor space. I know you’ve asked your teams before – and I know that they have been unwilling or slow in getting back to you – but now really is the time to crack the whip.
Dave and I whole heartedly believe London is the best place to locate regionals as traveling to the event inconveniences the least amount of people. But we really need you guys to be able to convey this to your players. They won’t have to get up at 6am on Saturday, and they won’t be getting in at 9pm on Sunday – All they need to do is ask their housemates for a favour.
And we’ll pay you £20 a team for doing this! If you need to sweeten the deal with your players by offering them half, then please do this! (Although I don’t believe you should have to do that). Please remind them of the last time they went to a tournament and stayed at someones house – it might only have been last week. Inform them of all the good karma that will no doubt be winging its way to them on Sunday morning.
Can you please, please, please lie, cheat and steal me some floor space for Saturday night.

Thrown Team 09/10: 1 year, 6 months ago · ViewTHE ROAD TO NATIONALS
Starts Now!
This year is the last chance for a lot of players at the club to make nationals and there is a really solid opportunity for us to achieve it. But to do that we need people to know how to play together as well as the plays we will be using.
We have an indoor session this thursday at the Southbank Uni hall in Elephant and Castle from 8-9. This is a very short session so i expect everybody to aim to meet outside the rockingham arms at 7:30 so we can be changed and ready to play at 7:45 to maximise how much we can get out of this session.
Anybody who wants to play at nationals is expected to attend and anybody who can’t make it come down to help out your team mates anyway.
I have also created a playbook that is loaded into this group under the documents tab once you open the group that I expect everybody to have read up, please note it is an amalgamation of 3 peoples work so style changes throughout but the content is still good.
Finaly people need to have rostered with kings and paid basic membership to the UKU (£5) as instructed by Louis in the previous email.
Lets make this a great year thrown, lets get into as many of the national tournaments as we can.

Thrown Team 09/10: 1 year, 6 months ago · ViewHey guys!
Like Louis suggested, the aim of this practice is going to be to consolidate some of the skills that the beginners have picked up amazingly quickly over the past few weeks.
Thought we’d start off with a simple mark running between two throwers drill to get people moving and throwing. We’ll really emphasise the importance of pivoting, encouraging people to really step out before they make their throws.
Then we’ll move into a simple box drill, it seemed to work really well when we did it before. Start off backhands then sidearms.
The last drill will be the one we did right at the beginnning where we had two lines, a pair competing for the disc. This time we can have an O line and a D line, initially getting people to switch between them but if we want to introduce a more competitive streak we can say that whoever gets the disc goes on O. Another variant we can introduce if we choose is to allow the O to fake and then decide whether to go long or come short.
Then into games – numbers and space will decide how these work.
Cool, feel free to offer any other ideas. You can even slate the plan completely if you fancy!
See you all tomorrow!
KP
P.S. I just want to say i agree with Louis, that was the best tournament ive been to since I started playing! Yeah Thrown!!!
