There is the customary bake-off! We have had some amazing (and less than amazing (you know who you are…)) entries over the years, but this is your big chance to prove to everyone your cake/biscuit/sweet making prowess. Hey guys,
So Mixed Outdoor Nationals this weekend, the names I currently have down are:
Larry (c)
Joe Evans
Harry Lengyel (sun)
Shih-han
GautomYujia
Kate
Olivia(I know I’ve missed some people out – these are the ones who got in touch by email that I could find, so if you’ve told me in person please do let me know/ Ive missed you off!). Additionally we need more players!! We could use some more of both sexes, so please do let me know if you’re up for an awesome Frisbee-filled weekend / you wanted to play in varsity, which isn’t happening any more as UCL and LSE pulled out, and now want to play in Cambridge (adamhartley14@yahoo.com). Again guys make sure you’ve all paid your membership to UKUA and to Thrown, if you have any problems etc feel free to contact me.
So the plan will be, catch a train up to Cambridge on Friday evening, stay overnight in accommodation, which will be in a hall of sorts. There will be a snack shop at the pitches as well as a Frisbee kit shop, and two supermarkets 5 minutes away.
The games on Saturday start at 10.00 am with 3 pool matches and 1 crossover (probably finishing by 5), then go for a meal. The party on the Saturday night will be in ‘The Hidden Rooms’, Jesus Lane, Central Cambridge – have to be in before 9.30pm. The fancy dress theme is St Patrick’s Day, which should be nice and easy for you all
On Sunday there is a 9.00am start and finish at 5.00pm, and then catching the train back to London, feeling you’ve had an amazing weekend
More exact train timings etc will be coming out in the next couple of days
So see you guys all on Wednesday hopefully, and do all email me if you want to go!!
Much love,
Adam

Hey All,
So its time to be thinking about what committee positions you would like to run for at this years AGM, to be on the committee for next year. Having a position on the exec not only allows you to have a say in the running of the club but means you get to come to all our fun exec socials! It really is a great thing to get involved with. Ive listed all of the positions below, and put next to them who currently holds this position, so you can ask them any questions as to what the position entails.
PRESIDENT (me)
Oversees the general running of the club. Organises the event calender for the year and supports all other committee members. Only those who have been on the exec for at least 1 year already can apply.
TREASURER (Samir)
Oversees the finance of the club. Jobs include attending finance meetings, completing money claim forms, making sure the club doesn’t run into debt :s
SECRETARY (Dennis)
Organises and runs the committee meetings. Is responsible for the minutes at the meetings and ensures they are available for everyone at the club to access
SOCIAL SECRETARY (Joe Evans)
Is responsible for all things social! Organises all socials throughout the year, including at Christmas and end of year.
COACH (Joe Rangel)
Is responsible for running all practices. The coach must organise practices beforehand and ensure he has all the equipment he needs to run the practice. Supports all members of the club in their development.
1ST TEAM CAPTAIN (Dan)
Is responsible for organising the first team on and off the pitch. Manages attendance, itinerary and travel for all competitions.
FRESHERS CAPTAIN (Adam Mian)
Is the point of contact for freshers, supporting them with issues on and off the pitch. Is responsible for organising freshers events at the beginning of the year.
WOMEN’S CAPTAIN (Lucie)
Is responsible for the women’s team. Jobs include organising women’s regionals, nationals and all the practices leading up to it.
PUBLICITY (Fowzia)
Is responsible for promoting the club all year round. Organises Thrown’s recruitment strategy during freshers week. Jobs include making posters, flyers and attending the freshers fair.
FITNESS COACH (Laurence)
Runs fitness practices throughout the year, this may include fitness sessions at normal practice.
KIT (Dan)
Is responsible for the ordering of kit for all members. This may involve reordering the same design or creating a new design for shirts.
FACILITIES (Sean)
Is responsible for ensuring the coach has all the equipment they need for practice. This may involve buying cones, discs, bibs etc. Organises the venue for any indoor practices.
WEB MANAGER (Dennis)
Is responsible for the up-keep of the thrown website. Ensures efficient methods of communication are available for the club.
So as you can see, there are lots of opportunities to get involved with the club. If you want to apply for a role, email our current secretary Dennis ( mrd_mrd@hotmail.com) with the name of the position you would like to run for and a short paragraph on why you think you would be good at it. The AGM will be at the end of this month, and there will be a deadline for applications before that, so get your applications in now!!
Having any position on the exec is the perfect foundation for taking on a bigger role the following year If you have any questions or want more details on what a position entails, just send me an email (adamhartley14@yahoo.com).See you soon

hey guys, just a message to let you know that PRACTICE IS CANCELLED TODAY!!!!!!
Contrary to Joe’s earlier email, we’ve looked at Hyde Park and the grounds are completely frozen over, so we wouldn’t be able to play
BUT… we will all be meeting in Guy’s bar at 2.30pm today, to generally have a chat and play some games where it’s nice and warm

everyone do come, it’ll be nice to relax with everyone again!tell everyone you see that training has been cancelled and pass the message on!
see you all later

Happy New Year Thrown!!
Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and are all set for the new term with lots of frisbee-filled fun. I just wanted to say again thank you so much for an amazing first term as president which just wouldn’t have been the same without all of your hard work and commitment. So please please can we go into this new year at the same awesome level of energy and dedication, and we can make the rest of this year even better
An advanced date for the diary, which is honestly the best weekend of the year by far, where everyone will have a fantastic day I promise – outdoor regionals on the weekend of 10th and 11th March. Its been in Chichester for the last few years, which is a great venue, not far away, and has a great party on the Saturday night. We will be looking at taking at least 3 teams, so everyone will get lots of game time in
. So now there can be no excuses for missing this highlight of frisbee year
Hope to see everyone at practice next Wednesday,Happy New Year again,
Adam

Hi guys,
Details for winter league tomorrow. Our first match is at 9.30, so everyone needs to arrive at 9.00 sharp to warm up and get changed etc.
It is held at Richard Evans Playing fields in Wimbledon, and there are two ways to get there, either overground from waterloo (15 min train going very frequently) to Putney or district line to east Putney (there is a 5 minute walk extra with the tube option – turn left out of the tube station, walk 5 mins up to Putney rail station). Then take the 85 bus from bus stop E towards Kingston, and get off at just past a really big Asda (Roehampton Vale). There will be loads of ultimate players to follow no doubt from there, essentially you take a path past Harlequins Rugby Club onto the playing fields behind.
Allow over an hour for the tube, and a bit less for the train. If people are getting the tube/train who wouldn’t mind showing people where to go, please post on the group and say what time they are aiming to get to Putney/ east Putney.
We will be finished by 3.30, and then probably head to the pub
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow , if people need help my no. is 07912560737,Adam
