Yeah it’s that time of year again. The best wednesday afternoon of the year that everyone should be getting involved with.
WHAT IS IT?
When the medical school campus plays the other campuses across all sports for the title of best sporting school and the prestigious cup. After 7 straight years of GKT dominance, KCL beat GKT for the first year ever and the medical school want it back. Every sport you can imagine plays (even darts) and then there is a huge party at TuTus.WHEN AND WHERE IS IT?
Wednesday 28th, at berrylands sports ground. We’ll be meeting at 12:45 in front of the departure boards in the middle of Waterloo Station.
Then after our match and all the other fixtures are finished there will be results and the presentation then party buses to TuTus for a big night out with guys bar prices.
Plus our game finishes fairly early so plenty of time to get drinks in at the bar.WHAT DO I DO?
If you are from the medical/dental/health sciences (i.e. GKT) then email me to say you can play.
If you are from any of the lesser degrees or campuses email JoeTM the strand captain.Look forward to getting emails from all the GKT winners so we can get ready to crush KCL once again.

Hey guys,
So Mixed Outdoor Nationals this weekend, the names I currently have down are:
Larry (c)
Joe Evans
Harry Lengyel (sun)
Shih-han
GautomYujia
Kate
Olivia(I know I’ve missed some people out – these are the ones who got in touch by email that I could find, so if you’ve told me in person please do let me know/ Ive missed you off!). Additionally we need more players!! We could use some more of both sexes, so please do let me know if you’re up for an awesome Frisbee-filled weekend / you wanted to play in varsity, which isn’t happening any more as UCL and LSE pulled out, and now want to play in Cambridge (adamhartley14@yahoo.com). Again guys make sure you’ve all paid your membership to UKUA and to Thrown, if you have any problems etc feel free to contact me.
So the plan will be, catch a train up to Cambridge on Friday evening, stay overnight in accommodation, which will be in a hall of sorts. There will be a snack shop at the pitches as well as a Frisbee kit shop, and two supermarkets 5 minutes away.
The games on Saturday start at 10.00 am with 3 pool matches and 1 crossover (probably finishing by 5), then go for a meal. The party on the Saturday night will be in ‘The Hidden Rooms’, Jesus Lane, Central Cambridge – have to be in before 9.30pm. The fancy dress theme is St Patrick’s Day, which should be nice and easy for you all
On Sunday there is a 9.00am start and finish at 5.00pm, and then catching the train back to London, feeling you’ve had an amazing weekend
More exact train timings etc will be coming out in the next couple of days
So see you guys all on Wednesday hopefully, and do all email me if you want to go!!
Much love,
Adam

REGIONALS DETAILS – Please Read ALL (this combines some previous emails but with changes so please take 5 mins and read it all)
So regionals this weekend, just wanted to let you know some details. If anyone else wants to play and hasn’t got in touch, please email and let us know, everyone is welcome!
IMPORTANT POINT: YOU NEED YOUR STUDENT ID FOR SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY. DON’T FORGET IT!
People will be getting the 6.45am train from Waterloo to Havant, and then 10 minutes later, the train from Havant to Chichester, arriving at 8.40am.
Meet under the big clock in front of the train boards in the centre of waterloo station at 6:25 to get group savers. Fowzias number is 07542832697
From there it’s a 20 minute walk to the grounds at the Uni. Chichester campus, where the first matches are at 10.00 for both the first and second teams.
For those of you getting the train this is where you need to get to Saturday (/Sunday) morning from the Chichester Railway station
University of Chichester, Bishop Otter Campus, Chichester, PO19 6PE
You basically cross the railway track walk straight up, past a crypt thing, take the underpass under the traffic island ( or try and cross the traffic island and fall in a bush) turn right, turn left onto college lane which looks like some country road and you’re there!
I’ve created a Google Doc that people can place if they are driving and advertise any free spaces.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Auu8y8cqlmVUdEVkU0VXZUpJRkhuM2E1WWRXeVpWMUE
There’ll be four or five matches (ish), and then we’ll have a shower and change, go back into town for a team meal, then head back to the uni for the social and our accommodation.
Then Sunday morning, wake up and head straight to the pitches, play some fun ultimate and then head back to London, getting back for approximately 7!

Wash stuff and towel
Food and drink

Hey All,
So its time to be thinking about what committee positions you would like to run for at this years AGM, to be on the committee for next year. Having a position on the exec not only allows you to have a say in the running of the club but means you get to come to all our fun exec socials! It really is a great thing to get involved with. Ive listed all of the positions below, and put next to them who currently holds this position, so you can ask them any questions as to what the position entails.
PRESIDENT (me)
Oversees the general running of the club. Organises the event calender for the year and supports all other committee members. Only those who have been on the exec for at least 1 year already can apply.
TREASURER (Samir)
Oversees the finance of the club. Jobs include attending finance meetings, completing money claim forms, making sure the club doesn’t run into debt :s
SECRETARY (Dennis)
Organises and runs the committee meetings. Is responsible for the minutes at the meetings and ensures they are available for everyone at the club to access
SOCIAL SECRETARY (Joe Evans)

COACH (Joe Rangel)
Is responsible for running all practices. The coach must organise practices beforehand and ensure he has all the equipment he needs to run the practice. Supports all members of the club in their development.
1ST TEAM CAPTAIN (Dan)
Is responsible for organising the first team on and off the pitch. Manages attendance, itinerary and travel for all competitions.
FRESHERS CAPTAIN (Adam Mian)
Is the point of contact for freshers, supporting them with issues on and off the pitch. Is responsible for organising freshers events at the beginning of the year.
WOMEN’S CAPTAIN (Lucie)
Is responsible for the women’s team. Jobs include organising women’s regionals, nationals and all the practices leading up to it.
PUBLICITY (Fowzia)

WEB MANAGER (Dennis)
Is responsible for the up-keep of the thrown website. Ensures efficient methods of communication are available for the club.
So as you can see, there are lots of opportunities to get involved with the club. If you want to apply for a role, email our current secretary Dennis ( mrd_mrd@hotmail.com) with the name of the position you would like to run for and a short paragraph on why you think you would be good at it. The AGM will be at the end of this month, and there will be a deadline for applications before that, so get your applications in now!!
Having any position on the exec is the perfect foundation for taking on a bigger role the following year If you have any questions or want more details on what a position entails, just send me an email (adamhartley14@yahoo.com).See you soon

Contrary to Joe’s earlier email, we’ve looked at Hyde Park and the grounds are completely frozen over, so we wouldn’t be able to play
BUT… we will all be meeting in Guy’s bar at 2.30pm today, to generally have a chat and play some games where it’s nice and warm

everyone do come, it’ll be nice to relax with everyone again!tell everyone you see that training has been cancelled and pass the message on!
see you all later

You must all know by now (i’ve mentioned it enough times!) that I’ll be running the London marathon this year for Oxfam. It’s a really good cause and I would be so so so so grateful if you had any money spare to donate…even a couple of pounds would make all the difference. Happy New Year Thrown!!
Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and are all set for the new term with lots of frisbee-filled fun. I just wanted to say again thank you so much for an amazing first term as president which just wouldn’t have been the same without all of your hard work and commitment. So please please can we go into this new year at the same awesome level of energy and dedication, and we can make the rest of this year even better
An advanced date for the diary, which is honestly the best weekend of the year by far, where everyone will have a fantastic day I promise – outdoor regionals on the weekend of 10th and 11th March. Its been in Chichester for the last few years, which is a great venue, not far away, and has a great party on the Saturday night. We will be looking at taking at least 3 teams, so everyone will get lots of game time in
. So now there can be no excuses for missing this highlight of frisbee year
Hope to see everyone at practice next Wednesday,Happy New Year again,
Adam
