  • PRACTICE AT 12!

Ok now for those of you with longer attention spans:

Dan and Alex will be at Fire training (calling people ’twat’, throwing Callahans, that kind of thing), so I will be running practice. I have a few things in mind, but if there is anything anyone wants me to go over just let me know. Whether it’s advanced tactics, tips on throwing, basic rules, the meaning of life, whatever, don’t be afraid to ask. The weather is finally getting better, so put away your laptops, grab your boots/cleats, and have some frisbee fun in the sun. Cool.

    Jon da Beast

P.S. The other day I was wondering why the frisbee was getting bigger. Then it hit me.

  • WTF IS AN AGM?

!!!A LONG EMAIL BUT PLEASE READ!!!

So it seems that half the people I spoke to at practice don’t know what the AGM is and the other half couldn’t be arsed to read their emails. So here you go:

The AGM (annual general meeting) if the social where the club votes in the new exec. We will have everyone who is running for each position describe why they think they are so great then we will all vote for each position.
Afterwards we will have our annual tradition of a bake off. Everyone brings a selection of home baked treats and we all scoff them down whilest the judges decide who’s was the best.
Finally we will have a meal and a social (the whole thing will probably take place in a function room of a pub or restaurant or something) which will be our end of year social with awards and prizes and such.
The AGM is the one social event you don’t miss so it’s important you email edith (edith.read@kcl.ac.uk) now with which dates you can do (between 15th and the 26th), email must be sent before friday!!!

This also means it’s time to start thinking about running for a position on the exec. Being onthe exec is a great opportunity for you. You get to help sculpt the club, it looks good on your CV and it’s a great reason to goto the pub.
Below is a very brief breakdown of the positions you can run for.

President (requires 1 yr of exec experience)
Over see the exec meeting and are the central liaison between the SU and the frisbee community. Requires a lot of time spent sending and reading emails, attending meeting and making decisions.

Treasurer (requires 1 yr of exec experience)
Handle the clubs fund and the second most senior position at the exec. Important in communication with the SU and act as a vice-president in many cases.

    Coach
In charge of all practices (indoors, outdoors and fitness) and the progression of the team

    1st team captain
Makes team selections and is in charge of the team on and off the pitch at matches and tournaments

    Women’s captain
The same as above but for the women’s team. Also key in getting women as involved as possible in external practices.

    Fresher’s captain
In charge of the teams at KCL beginners as well as looking after beginners at tournaments. First point of call for all beginners who have questions, key at freshers fair. Should be there to make all beginners feel welcome at practices.

    Kit
In charge of ordering new kit including hoodies and the such

    Facilities
Books indoors and make sure the club is fully stocked with first aid/cones/discs

    Social secretary
Arrange, attend, run socials and makes sure everybody gets home

    Secretary
sends out emails to the beginners and the club. takes the minutes at the exec meetings. runs the AGM

    Publicity
Trying to raise awareness of the club as much as possible and increase membership

    Website
    Runs and maintains the website

I know that was a very long email but hopefully you understand now how important the AGM is and how important it is to email Edith. It also promises to be a great night so it would be a shame to miss out.

    Dan

p.s. please email me about mixed outdoors
p.p.s. please sign up to flump
p.p.p.s. if you want to just hit reply thats cool and i’ll bounce this onto edith
