GOOD NEWS , BAD NEWS!!!

Good news first:
I’m back, I’m alive and 100% not eaten by a lion. Other good news it’s time to start fancy dress shopping. Theme this year is Gypsy Wedding.I don’t even begin to know how you dress up for that but I promise my costume will be awesome. I expect everyone else to be wearing the most ragged tie dyed baggy rags they can….. oh and hoop earrings.

Bad News
The international recession even hits fine upstanding organisations as our own KCLSU, who have seen it in their own infinite wisdom to take back some of the money in our account thanks to the complexities of society financing. This means the promise of us returning all your money can no longer be fufilled. We will still be able to give you back 50% of your money, making it a fantastic deal all the same. Trust me I’m as upset as you are. It should still be a blast though and the cheapest oppertunity for you to goto a major international tournie. However I respect some people may have a complaint and if you have an issues email me abck before we send of payment on tuesday morning

CLUB MEETING/SOCIAL
Hello everyone, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to be reminded that the end of August is approaching and you will soon have have to think about returning to a new year at Kings (sad face). However, that also means Thrown is up and running again (happy face)!

Freshers fortnight is aways an important time for societies and clubs but i think this year is the biggest year it has ever been for Thrown. Thats why I’d like to have a brief social/meeting just before freshers week starts to catch up and for me to talk to you all about some important dates coming up. I would really really really like for everyone to be there if they can because:
A) I miss you
B) You miss me
C) We all miss each other
D) The stuff I want to talk about is quite important

Hey again thrown! Just a reminder to everyone coming for the filming of the dvd to bring their thrown shirt + any spares if you have them. Also try + look as coordinated as possible (black shorts, green socks if you have them). Will make the dvd look a lot better! See you then

So I’ve had a few emails about people able to take part in the dvd but i’m looking for more. This is the perfect opportunity to show everyone what a big club we are. So I was chatting to Martin Scorsese and he says to me ”Rob, you know what we really need?” and I said ”No” because I wasn’t actually sure what Martin Scorsese might be needing. He said ”I need an excellent introduction to Ultimate DVD made for me and my director friends, and I want you to make it”.

Of course I agreed, but it got me thinking, how to go about making an ’Introduction to Ultimate DVD’. So the plan is to grab as many of you as are available for one day between the 23rd and 26th of August (Date TBC) film some drills and bits of games and then head to a pub or bar. So basically like a normal practice, but with a camera and alcohol.

For those going to Burla, or general party enthusiasts, Crispy sent this message out. Sorry it’s late notice.

”Hello everyone I hope this finds you well,

Right so lots of things are approaching on my calendar and I see them converging. I dont know how best to introduce these things so i’ll just get stuck in.

I leave my house in Fulham next wednesday (30th) to return home living with mother dearest in South East London. Also I found out today that the infamous HELL pizza on north end road is closing down forever and its last day is going to be the buffet night on tuesday (29th). Also, I had to reschedule the gypsy wedding charity shop bar crawl in anticipation of Burla to sometime next week because it clashed with the football today.

I’m sure you can see where this is going.

So next tuesday (29th) the plan is meet at mine/north end road at 1pm and begin the charity shop pub crawl to prepare our costumes for the burla gypsy wedding theme. Then when we’re all boozed up and dressed nicely we head on to the HELL pizza buffet around 6 ish. Then if people want we can head back to mine and drink more and tell me how much you’re going to miss having someone round to take the piss out of. Or we can hit up the sugar hut in fulham, which i’ve heard good things about.

So it would be great to get as many of you out for this as possible, dD, kings, flump whatever. Also dont worry if you’re not going to burla, I’ve always wanted to do a charity shop/pub crawl anyway and i’m sure its going to be ace.

For those of you looking to go to Burla, if you book with Easyjet today using the code SOCCERIT, you’ll get £10 off per person. Worth looking into.

I bet you thought: ”the club is paying for the player fees and the accomodation, sounds too good to be true!”.
Well it is!! I got it a bit wrong, some of the accomodation fee will need to be paid for. The most it will cost for the 4 nights is £55 each but this will be less if we get the whole quota of 15 people. It is still incredibly cheap so don’t let the money put you off

I only need £17 for now to pay the initial deposit

Hello fellow frisbee players, hope you are enjoying your summers while i am stuck in the library for another 6 weeks :s However, what keeps me going is the thought that between the 16th and 20th of September I will be basking in the Italian sun and taking part in the most exciting beach ultimate tournament there is … BURLA!!!
Thrown has entered a team and we are taking 15 players, 11 have already confirmed so we only have space for 4 more so get your name in quick. MONEY IS NO PROBLEM!!! The fees and accomodation are paid for by the club (aren’t we generous) so you only need to pay for the flight and spending money I will need to get some money from people, this for the accomodation deposit and player fees but you will get ever penny of your money back. Info About Burla and a Thank You

Firstly I want to say thanks to everyone who helped out this year. I had my hand over meeting with Louis and KCLSU on thursday and am now no longer your president in any way. I had a great year and that was all down to the team. I also have the upmost confidence in Louis and the new exec to take us too new heights next year.

Now the nitty gritty. I am off to Africa for 2 months on monday so have to hand the mantle of organising Burla to Louis. He’ll send out an email shortly and so far we have 10 signed up with space for 5 more. I also just bought my flights and the cheapest ones were with BA (ryanair adds a ridiculous number of charges) below our my flight times if ppl want to share a plane journey with me.
